Starting Shot for the New Season

This year, the CCCB looks forward to 98 calls with more than 130.000 passengers. This impressive growth clearly emphasizes that it was the right decision to invest into the cruise location Bremerhaven on a large scale. The MS Astoria of Transocean Tours will give the starting shot into the new season 2008. The popular 4-star ship is expected to call the Columbus quay on April 22nd. Its first cast off from Columbus Cruise Center Bremerhaven will be at 22.00.

First Call of MSC – Celebration in the CCCB

On May 06th we are looking forward to welcome the MSC Armonia for the first time to the Columbus quay Bremerhaven. Prior to Bremerhaven, the MSC Armonia will stop in Dover and Amsterdam in order to then continue its journey towards the Norwegian Fjords. We want to celebrate this first call with an outline program which is aligned to MSC Armonias route. We will present a Dutch flower market and a manifold culinary spectrum from Scandinavia and Italy. The colorful booths of the flower kings will impress you. Enjoy some Italian sparkling wine or Latte Macchiato in company to Italian pasta or fresh Matjes!  This holiday atmosphere on this market place will be accompanied by live music on stage. Also the kids will be taken care of. They can pound their own pasta dough or test their sleight during a fishing game. The market will be opened from 14.00 until 18.30. We are pleased to welcome you to the cruise terminal Bremerhaven on this special day for this special event.

News for the New Season 2008

Well timed for the beginning of the season, the CCCB is able to showcase that extensive improvements have been undertaken during off-season. Thereby the entire signage has been revised and updated to an international standard. In the course of this improvement, the digital bus guidance system has been adapted to the passenger needs. Therefore, it is now even more clearly structured. The bus stations 1 – 10 are located in the entrance area whereas the bus stations 11 – 20 are located in the exit area of the bus terminal.

For the passengers well-being, a relax area with some deck-chairs has been set-up. Further more, there is additional furniture in the café area. Additional plants in the first floor create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Moreover, there are two new additional internet workspaces – available for crew and passengers and further the lounge presents itself in a new look. With immediate effect, reservations from shipping companies, tour operators etc. are welcome.

Successful Convention

On the annual  Seatrade  Cruise  shipping  Convention 2008 in Miami, the CCCB was represented again with its own booth within the associated booth of German ports "Destination Germany". Alongside from numerous dialogues with representatives of North-American Shipping Companies, it was the ideal platform for an exchange of experiences with colleagues of other ports. In line with the trade show, a new European port alliance has been launched of which the CCCB is part of.

Atlantic Alliance

During the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention, a new association of European ports has been anounced. The CCCB is founder member of the Atlantic Alliance which unites 15 ports all located on the European westcoast. The ambition of this alliance is joint marketing activities of the European westcoast ports from Lisbon to Hamburg. The purpose is to enhance the degree of popularity of the touristic attractions in these destinations. The background for these now established efforts is rooted in the history of these European westcoast ports. The shipping companies currently tend to perceive them as transit ports only. It is especially important for Bremerhaven with its almost 8 Mio. emigrants to overcome this image. The touristy value of these destinations is still a white spot on the shipping companies´ maps and yet to be explored.

New Colleague

Since March 1st, David Enders is a new CCCB team member. Mr. Enders worked in the direct environment of the CCCB in recent years already. Therefore he is very much familiar with the Columbus quay and the accommodations in the terminal building. He will back up our quay supervisor Wilfried Probst, taking over various duties and responsibilities in the range of operations and handling.

Luggage transfer by TEfra Travel Logistics – Holiday right from the start!

The observant passenger might have noticed last year already that some passengers traveled „lighter“ than others-arrival and departure without carrying luggage. Already the third year in row, the team of Tefra Travel Logistics dispatches the passengers´ luggage from their home directly to Columbus Cruise Center and back once the cruise is over. Thus, the passengers´ recreation starts even before the cruise because they literally travel “weightless”. Upon arrival, naturally they don’t need to look after their luggage. The team of hosts and the many helping hands on the pier and on board have already received this luggage and distributed it onto the cabins.

In this spirit - Have a good trip!
